Before enrolling in the university, he took a job in a multinational company manufacturing accessories for the garment sector with a salary of Tk 4,500. After working as a quality officer for two years, he joined a local company that manufactures equipment as a product development officer. Salary 15 thousand rupees. After four years, he resigned from the job and started working as the head of a British chemical company in Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan.

This history of the job belongs to Al Shahriar Ahmed. In addition to working for a British company, he started an indenting firm in 2012 without any capital. Using six years of work experience, Shahriar used to import equipment, raw materials, and chemicals for various companies in the equipment sector. He then set up two factories in partnership. After leaving the business for some time, he set up his own factory to manufacture equipment and packaging products for the export-oriented garment sector.

In the space of four years, Shahriar’s Adji Trims Limited has become one of the top companies in the equipment and packaging sub-sector. At present, 793 workers work in two factories of Adji Trims in Turag and Dhamrai BSIC industrial areas. The company produces equipment and packaging products on behalf of 31 foreign companies including Zara, Mango, Pool & Bear, Alcide English. Their products are exported directly to Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Portugal, Vietnam, and Spain. Shahriar’s Adji Trims is secretly and directly exporting equipment and packaging products worth about 1 million US dollars or eight and a half crore rupees per month.

‘We want to provide a one-stop service to buyers in the equipment and packaging subdivision. This means that all kinds of ready-made garments and packaging will be in our factory. We are currently making all products except zippers, buttons, cartoons, and sewing threads. We will start the production of zippers and buttons next year.

‘ Entrepreneur’s dream in childhood Al Shahriar Ahmed spent his childhood in Patuakhali Sadar. An incident in his childhood had a profound effect on him becoming a future entrepreneur. The son of the headmaster of the school used to work in a private company. Then Shahriar studied in the fourth class. Hear the incident in his mouth, ‘I asked my teacher’s son, Uncle, how much do you get paid? He said, 35 thousand rupees per month. I pushed hard. Because then 35 thousand is a lot of money. I asked, do you see everything in the company? He replied, no. There are many more officers above him. The salary of the top officer is 1 lakh 10 thousand rupees. I asked again, who pays the salary? Replied the owner of the company. It occurred to me that the owner of the company who pays so much, I don’t know how much he pays! ‘ Shahriar said, “If I make a decision on the same day, I will be the owner of the company. Many people will work in my organization. Apart from that, everyone in my family works in the government. Their black and white life did not attract me. ‘

Shahriar’s father quit his job and started a business. Due to that, their family moved to Nabinagar in Savar in 1997. Shahriar was admitted to BEPZA Public School. Shortly after the high school exams, Shahriar got into a fight with his friends over an incident. Dad angrily told him to leave the house. Shahriar also went to Narayanganj with pride. After staying there with friends for a month, Mama took care of the business for a few days. Meanwhile, he was also on the waiting list with the admission test of Dhaka University after the results of higher secondary were released. However, Shahriar got a job in Pixar Bangladesh Limited, a multinational company manufacturing accessories or equipment, through a well-known person in Nabinagar. He started working. Besides, he was admitted to Dhaka International University for higher studies. However, due to the job, education could not be facilitated. Later Shahriar was admitted to the evening course.

I would leave home at six in the morning. I had to work at least 18 hours a day. I had to spend two or three nights on the sofa inside the factory under the pressure of work.

Finally becoming an entrepreneur We have already heard the history of Shahriar’s job. He was running his own indenting firm in addition to a 3,000 a month job at a British chemical company called Elite Printing UK Limited. Suddenly one day the managing director of Cosmo Group asked Shahriar to meet him at his office. When they met, the businessman offered Shahriar to jointly produce stickers and gum tape.

Shahriar said, there is not much money to build a factory. Later, however, he got a 15 percent share of the company with eight lakh rupees.
